Lighting is about more than just your choice of lamps. It's also about the placement of light and the type of light source. If you use light consciously, you can better utilize the space - and improve your indoor environment.
When we think about our indoor environment, and our well-being in general, light often comes last. We forget, or may not even realize, that a room can change character when the lighting changes. Therefore, you should consider what lamps you should have and where they should be placed - just as you consider what furniture you have in the living room and where it stands.
Every room in your home has its own light qualities and challenges. Natural daylight depends on which direction the living room faces, how large the windows are, and whether it is located on the ground floor or above ground. Also, both the seasons and the time of day play a role in relation to your living room lighting and your need for lamps.
Consider how the living room is used for different purposes throughout the day, and think about creating multiple layers of light and space in the room. That means lamps in several corners and at multiple levels. In other words: Make sure to create varied lighting environments - and preferably choose lamps with adjustable brightness.
There are three types of lighting for the living room: The general - diffuse - lighting illuminates the room evenly, smooths out sharp contrasts, defines the contours of the space, and helps you navigate and orient yourself. Task and work lighting, such as reading and desk lamps or pendants over the dining table, provide you with precise and focused light, and finally, the decorative light that creates ambiance and cosiness can be used as a sculptural light and art object.
At LIGHT-POINT, we have all types of lamps for the living room. You can choose to use different models or opt for the same one as a pendant, wall, table, or floor lamp to create visual continuity.
But remember, you should always choose light over the lamp!

A large space like the living room requires a general orientation light, a ceiling lamp or a pendant, that you can quickly turn on in the dark, so you don't have to wander around to turn on lights before you can see. Think of it as a kind of basic lighting in the living room, which you can then supplement with other lamps. Choose a ceiling lamp for your living room with a warm tone, so the room doesn't have too harsh and cold light. Even though you may not have it turned on very often, it's important to be able to turn on a general, overarching light - especially in the darkest months.

The living room is the heart of our home, reflecting our style and personality. It's where we spend most of our time, creating cherished memories with family, friends, and guests. Whether we're unwinding with a good book, enjoying movie nights, or simply relaxing in front of the TV, the living room is a multifunctional space that needs to exude intimacy and elegance.
Typically the largest room in a house or apartment, the living room offers endless possibilities for design and arrangement. From choosing wall colours to arranging furniture and selecting artwork, every detail matters in creating a cosy atmosphere. And in a country where darkness dominates half the year, lighting is as essential as the furnishings. Whether your living room serves as a serene sanctuary or a hub for social gatherings, finding the right lighting is crucial for setting the right atmosphere. Consider incorporating overhead lighting like spots or a pendant to illuminate the entire space, complemented by table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps to add layers of warmth and functionality.
Take into account the room's size, ceiling height, and architectural features when selecting lamps, ensuring they harmonize with your home's aesthetic. If you're unsure where to begin, we're here to offer inspiration and guidance for choosing the perfect lamps to enhance your living room experience.

Feeling comfortable in our own home is essential for our quality of life. An important aspect of our well-being is understanding, using, and harnessing the ever-changing and emotional qualities of light. We can't always explain why we love a particular room or corner, but often it's intertwined with the light and its magical abilities.
However, it's not a straightforward task when living in Scandinavia. We have bright days in the summer months and many dark days and evenings in the winter - our homes are challenged by both, requiring some thoughtfulness in arranging light and lamps for both scenarios. Dimmers on the main light sources in the living room can solve this problem.
The key to creating a relaxed, comfortable feeling in the living room often lies in the lighting setup. You can create scenography with light that evokes a wide range of emotions, as light is one of the most effective ways to influence our senses. But before you can harness it, you must first understand it. Too much light can feel dazzling and uncomfortable.
Too little light, on the other hand, can feel cold and dull.
It's also about finding the right colour temperature. Light around 2700K-3500K creates a warm, relaxing, and cosy atmosphere suitable for the living room.
Can you have too many lamps? No! It's better to have too many than too few. But you shouldn't be afraid of darkness either. The contrast between light and darkness/shadow creates dynamics and an interesting effect. The most important thing is to have a variety of light in the room as well as variation in brightness from the different lamps. If the brightness is too uniform, the room can seem dull, and you won't feel like you can see properly.
At LIGHT-POINT, our lighting experts are always ready to inspire you with lighting ideas for the living room. Our collection of modern, sleek, and architectural designer lamps is perfect for the Scandinavian style.

The living room is often spacious, allowing for more significant gestures and experimentation with both furniture and various types of lamps. It's a good idea to organize it into zones: a sofa area, a quiet reading nook, a lounge area with armchairs, etc. It's crucial to illuminate all corners of the room, and here, table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps are ideal for the living room.
Here's our inspiration guide for living room lamps that set the mood:
Different activities require different lighting! Therefore, arrange lighting according to how you use your living room.
Don't just choose lamps that shine downward. It makes the room appear smaller and gives a sense of lower ceilings than there actually are. It's important to illuminate many different areas in the living room - including corners and ceilings.
A floor lamp in the reading nook of the living room is a perfect choice for focused light: ORBIT, SPIRIT, or INLAY. While table lamps are excellent for cosying up on the sofa, watching TV, or having cocktails with friends, providing warm and inviting lighting. Consider SPIRIT and BLADE, for example.
In addition to providing light for the room, lamps can also be used as an active part of your interior design. For example, place a beautiful and decorative lamp in your bookcase or on an open sideboard or low side tables. You can also adorn a wall with SOHO or STRIPE Wall.
If you live with art - both two- and three-dimensional - it's beautiful to illuminate it with spotlights. If you have artworks hanging on the wall, it creates a stunning effect with light on the artwork/wall, just as it's beautiful with a spotlight on sculptures on pedestals out in the room, etc. You can also choose to illuminate a single bare wall in the living room - typically the darkest wall - with spotlights like SOLO, AURA, CURVE, and MIRAGE. They look great in pairs.
